A ginger slice dryer is a type of processing equipment specifically used to dehydrate and dry fresh ginger slices into dried ginger slices. Dried ginger slices are both a traditional Chinese medicinal material and a raw material for seasonings and ginger powder. The drying process directly affects the color, flavor, and retention of active ingredients in the finished product.
Why Do Ginger Slices Need Specialized Drying Equipment?
Fresh ginger slices have a high moisture content (over about 80%) and are rich in starch and volatile ginger oil. If the temperature is too high during drying, the starch tends to saccharify and become sticky, and the ginger oil volatilizes, causing aroma loss. If the temperature is too low or moisture removal is poor, the slices are prone to mold and deterioration. Therefore, ginger slice drying has relatively high requirements for temperature control and moisture removal rhythm.
Mesh Belt Hot Air Drying Process: Ginger slices are spread on multiple layers of stainless steel mesh belts. Hot air vertically penetrates the material layer, and the slices are turned layer by layer and continuously discharged. Drying is uniform and suitable for large-scale production.
The mesh belt ginger slice dryer is currently the mainstream choice for large-scale processing. Its typical configuration is as follows:
Spreading system: Ginger slices are evenly spread by a feeder onto 3–6 layers of stainless steel mesh belts (12–60 mesh), with adjustable material layer thickness.
Drying host: The multi-layer mesh belts use variable frequency speed control. Ginger slices move layer by layer from top to bottom and automatically turn, achieving uniform heating.
Hot air circulation: Each drying unit has independent hot air circulation, and part of the exhaust gas is discharged by a moisture exhaust fan. Thermal efficiency can reach over 85%.
Heat source options: Steam, electricity, natural gas, biomass, air-source heat pump, etc., which can be flexibly configured according to factory conditions.
Nanchong Shouchuang Technologyis founded in 2002 (with roots tracing back to 1972, when founder Li Xueqi began developing hot-air cocoon drying machines), the company is headquartered in Gaoping District, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province-1-3. It operates production bases exceeding 50,000 square meters with nearly 200 employees.
Shouchuang Technology focuses on agricultural product drying equipment, intelligent sericulture (silkworm rearing) equipment, and air-source heat pumps-1-8. Its drying equipment covers hundreds of sub-categories across fruits and vegetables, Chinese medicinal materials, food, spices, and specialty agricultural products
